Broken Camera :(
This is a picture I took of my old and broke camera. I miss using this camera, so I used it for the purpose of this blog. The function of the graphic design on this camera is for identity. I think it is classic and formal. The style seems to be contemporary because of its simplicity.
Inside Man
This is an image of a DVD called the Inside Man. The movie itself is very interesting. The design of the DVD is also interesting. The style seems Swiss because of the use of the grid system. There is a cross going through the center of the DVD with perfect circles around the design. It can also be Early Modern because of the sans-serif type, the black and red color scheme and the photography in the background. It is hard for me to put it into just one of those categories. But overall, the design is exceptional and innovative.
ABC
While watching TV, I saw this logo at the bottom of the screen and decided to snap a picture of it. The function of this ABC News logo is for identity purposes so that the viewer knows what network they are watching. There is a mixture of sans-serif and serif type in this logo, so it is hard to determine the style. Guessing, I would say that this is Late Modern because of the formal, undecorated typography. This is a quality piece of work. The design seems conservative, as news should be.
be BOLD!
This is a refrigerator magnet of the word bold. I have had this magnet for a while now and cannot remember where I got it from. However, I do know that this is a form of graphic design. I think the creator could have used a better font to depict the word "bold". If they want to display the word bold, the typography should actually be bold. It is hard to tell what style this is, but if I had to pick one I would choose Contemporary because of the clean typography.
LIFE!
This is an image of box of Life cereal that I have at home. The function is a combination of packaging and identity because of the "50th Birthday" sign on the box.The picture of the balloon displaying the words, "50th Birthday", is the company's way of letting everyone know about their company's accomplishment. The style seems to be Post-Modern because of the photo-collage type of illustration, the tilted-axis, and the stair-step shapes of the balloons. The design is very playful and fun.
CHOCOLATE, CHOCOLATE, CHOCOLATE!
This is a packaging example of graphic design for Hershey's chocolate flavored syrup. It is one of my favorite toppings at home, so I decided to use it as an example for this blog. Although I am not completely sure, I believe the style for this is Early Modern because of the sans-serif type and the red circle border. I think the designer did a good job of depicting how the product should be used in the pictures on the bottle. The design seems pretty traditional for this type of product.
